Makeup Revolution Advent Calendar 2015: It's Downfall

This year I was lucky enough to get my hands on some sort of make-up advent calendar! Mine in particular was the Makeup Revolution London brand. I'm planning to do a full review on this calendar just after Christmas to let you know my full thoughts and also give you a little haul of all the little bits and pieces. Before I sing it's praises though I'm just going to have my self a little moan about certain items in it... Nail polishes!!!

Where To Go Next? My Education Dilemma

Last year at the end of studying my Level 2 qualification in Hairdressing I applied for University in the hopes of studying make-up at a higher level and being the most educated I could possibly be. I applied to 4 universities but I was declined by all others apart from University of Birmingham, which I got an unconditional offer from. If you don't know the difference between what offers you can get from Universities then you're not alone because neither do I really but I think there's:

• Unconditional - basically no matter what you do or what grades you get you've definitely got the place with them
• Conditional - as long as you get your predicted grades then you will have a place with them, anything under that and you may not be taken on
• Unsuccessful - not sure what exact wording they use but that's where they've declined your application for whatever reason.  

Covering Grey Hair & Becoming a Hair Extension Specialist

Yesterday evening I had a lovely client in for a root retouch at Sussex Coast College to cover her grey regrowth. I've always thought to myself once I get to the stage where I start to become grey I'd always go lighter to a soft beige blonde, definitely helps to break up that regrowth line we all dread!

Hi guys! I had this idea for a post when I was sat here aimlessly searching the internet for something similar on what to buy my boyfriend this year. American Make-up Haul

Unfortunately I wasn't the lucky one who got to go to America it was actually my boyfriend who went on a trip to Las Vegas and offered to get me a few make-up bits (sweetheart). After years of looking at make-up I wish I could get easily over here in the UK, when faced with the actual time to pick what to get my mind literally went blank. After a week I managed to create just a small list of items that I wanted and now they've safely arrived here in the UK with me!

Drugstore Product Reviews: Maybelline Brow Drama Sculpting Mascara

After having this product for a few weeks I feel I'm able to give a true review on this product: Maybelline Brow Drama Sculpting Mascara which I got in the colour Transparent! This retails at £4.99 at Boots and can be found here.

Overview: The product claims to be a none streak formula and is available in the UK in 4 different shades which are Transparent, Deep Blonde, Medium Brown and Dark Brown. The product is designed to groom and hold the brows in place and if obviously you're buying a tinted one, to give the brows some extra colour and depth. The product is being considered an alternative to the higher priced Benefit Gimme Brow.

Essena O'neill is an Australian 19 year old female who had around 700k followers on Instagram. From following her myself for a period of time she had the 'perfect feed' (I'll get into that later) and had the perfect sun kissed body posing in front of beachy and tropical backgrounds. It's true her life looked amazing on social media, hence why she had her followers.
She has now completely blown up on the internet after quitting her social media accounts and creating videos explaining her revolution of that she's sick of the pressure to try and make herself seem perfect via social media. All I can say is thank the Lord someone with enough following has finally said it!

Mad Max inspired shoot on Halloween

Yipee! I've been wanting to do a Mad Max inspired shoot since I saw this make-up on the Little Mix girls and it's finally happening and on Halloween. If I'm honest the actual film didn't do it for me personally... I found myself either falling asleep or whinging that I wanted to turn it off and watch something else. Eastbourne Lingerie Model

As a make-up artist starting off 99% of the work you get in the beginning is going to be you putting yourself out there and for free. Now for me, my kit is very expensive seeing as I use only have under ten items that are drug store/ high street products and the rest being high end make-up including brands such as MAC, Bobbi Brown, Anastasia Beverly Hills and Kryolan. For me obviously the expense of my make-up kit was a huge amount and sometimes using that make-up for free is a little disheartening but if you make the most out of that job and pick the jobs you do for free wisely then it's all worth it in the long run.  I personally will not choose to do a shoot for free unless it is filling a hole in my portfolio and something I haven't done before. For me about 2 months it was any professional pictures what so ever that I needed so I went on the hunt. In the beginning make-up work doesn't just come to you, in fact, hardly anything in life just comes to you with out you putting some welly in to it!

Hastings Observer Building Photoshoot

Being as impatient as I am when I've done a shoot or bridal make-up I want to see the final product of the pictures ASAP so I can share them with everyone. I get so pumped after a shoot and I want them now, but obviously that's not possible seeing as the photographer needs to do all their bits but honestly felt like I was waiting foooooorever to see them (it was a week). But finally they're here! At least some anyway and I'm dead happy with how they've turned out.

Recently I have done so well in not excessively buying makeup products and to celebrate that this week I done exactly that. I have a few extra makeup bits that somewhere across the UK in the postal system coming my way but I couldn't wait to write a blog post about these items as I'm extremely happy about this purchases! Yes!!!! Breast Cancer Awareness Month & Pastel Pink Hair

Just been watching Sprinkle Of Glitter's touching Youtube video about her life and how cancer has affected her. The video was so open and you could tell the more she spoke the more raw her emotions became and I felt a lump in my throat more than once. If you're not aware of her Youtube channel or just her presence on the internet then you definitely should be! She's always so bubbly and it feels as if she could genuinely be one of your mates.

So this was my lovely client Abi which I mentioned in my last blog post who came from Crawly to come and have her make-up done. I got bare minimum details of the shooting that's going to commence on the day but my brief was just 'flawless' and 'glamour'.

Sunday Photoshoots

So it has been an exceptionally productive weekend as I've decided I'm going to do whatever it takes to get noticed and get my work out there, things don't just drop at your toes in this life and they never have. Started off the weekend by having a lovely lady named Abi come over from Crawley to see me which is an hour away from where I'm based. Finally, finally my name is getting spread as a makeup artist and I'm so happy haha! Early this Sunday morning it was the usual setting up for a shoot but had my boyfriend along as a little assistant to help me with certain things (& also to get some behind the scenes pictures but to be honest he'd taken them all at unflattering angles, bless him). Since I've been putting myself out there as a Makeup Artist I have fallen into the more community based photography so, special occasion and bridal.. which is lovely and I absolutely love it but there's a lack of variety you're able to achieve doing that line of work so I was exceptionally excited to be able to try something different and out the box with this shoot.
